MY PASSION & MY BIRTHDAY

During unprecedented times of reflection, fear, uncertainty, doubts, inconvenience, we need to let the kind, the beautiful, the calm, the trust, the love, the beauty of this world despite its current struggle with a pandemic, strive and ultimately win. And I trust we will win and the victory will be splendorous.

Until then, I wish to celebrate a few smaller victories that make me happy these days: the birth of this blog with the support of my wonderful and talented photographer-cook- husband Codrut and of our eight year old son Stefan who never fails to help in the kitchen and to taste whatever is being baked, just to get an idea of what he will have to be waiting for; the cookbook I am finally and steadily writing these days, a book that I started writing couple of years ago, on and off but never evolved into anything. I am excitedly cooking storm after storm in the kitchen these days, putting together my and my husband’s family most delicious and loved recipes as well as recipes that we have discovered and enjoyed in our extraordinary culinary journey since having immigrated to Canada; and last but not least I am celebrating my birthday surrounded by family, love, flowers, Champagne, good food (mostly cooked by Codrut), good music, candles. Unlike other birthday celebrations where friends were the heart and soul of our gatherings, this one is a bit different and a low-key one in our attempt to comply with our social distancing that is being recommended.
