Claudia Tolea

I have been passionate about cooking since I was a kid. My mom used to have me help her in the kitchen back in Romania all the time. The best cooking times were around Easter and Christmas time and I was enjoying that time with my mom immensely. Little did I know that one day I would share this passion with others, in a blog.

Originally from Romania, I immigrated to Canada in 2004, met a wonderful man, married him, met other wonderful people who have become our friends and adoptive family and started an awesome culinary adventure by having been introduced to the finest restaurants in Toronto, embracing foods from different cultures, experimenting endless interesting recipes, cooking or improving our own recipes that my husband and I have inherited from our respective families. This wonderful journey has helped us elevate our culinary taste to a different level, made us eager to try expanding our thirst for different cuisines and has taught us how to enjoy good wine, good champagne, how to pair them with food.

It was our 2016 Christmas dinner that we were hosting when our friends Oszkar and Eva gave me a French cookbook as a gift with an inspiring note that read: “Our dearest Claudia, we hope you will be inspired by this book to write your own”. That was it! Right that very moment I knew that cooking and writing were about to marry and bring me to this blog and to my first cookbook, as my ultimate goal.

Now I have a 7 year old son that enjoys spending time with me in the kitchen either helping me or just tasting every dessert before it gets into the oven and I couldn’t be happier. And Dad is the wonderful photographer of all my pictures and also a great cook especially when it comes to pasta and BBQ. He has his own dishes that he proudly cooks, many of them being shared by his father that has been a passionate hunter, fisherman and cook. Some of our family recipes will be featured on this blog and many more will be included in the cookbook that I am writing, as a celebration of cooking for friends.

I have been cooking for friends, with friends, because of friends and having hosted parties after parties has been always an excuse to continue our exciting journey of talking about food, enjoying good food, old recipes, new recipes, good music and good company. Food brings people together on so many different levels. It is nourishment to the soul and body. It’s true love (Giada De Laurentiis). Let this be my invitation for you to be part of our true love for food, be part of our culinary journey of having discovered, experienced and cooked the most amazing dishes we have come across throughout the years, the wonderful dishes we grew up with you and the ones yet to be discovered.
